Alonso Mora, Javier

I am a PhD candidate at the Autonomous Systems Lab at ETH Zurich and Disney Research Zurich, with focus on autonomous multi-robot systems. I received a M.Sc. in Robotics, Systems and Control from ETH Zurich in 2010. I also received a Diploma in General Engineering and a Diploma in Mathematics from the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (Spain) in 2010 and 2008, respectively.

My primary work is centered on Display Swarm, a display formed by multiple mobile robots (ground or aerial vehicles). Coordination, collision avoidance, pattern formation, image display, choreographic motions and multi-robot vision-based localization are central in this work. I am also interested on Swarm Sensors, a swarm of robots for 3-D modeling of outdoor environments. Challenges are in navigation, scene interpretation, coordination of multiple flying and ground robots, optimal coverage, 3D reconstruction and modeling.
