Short CV

I received a diploma in computer science from the University of Freiburg in August 2001. I have been working as a research assistant with Prof. Bernhard Nebel until 2002 and from 2002 to 2003 with Prof. Sebastian Thrun at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. From 2003 to 2006 I worked as a PhD student at the Research Group for Autonomous Intelligent Systems at the University of Freiburg, headed by Prof. Wolfram Burgard. In 2007 I received my PhD title with my thesis on "Three-dimensional Perception for Mobile Robots". Since 2007 I am working as a postdoc at the Autonomous Systems Lab headed by Prof. Roland Siegwart. • From March 1st 2011 on, I will be working in the Mobile Robotics Group of Paul Newman at the University of Oxford. A link to my new web page will be available soon.
  
• In our EUROPA project, we started an inquiry about robotics. You are welcome to participate!
  
• This year, I am co-chair of the AAAI-11 Student Abstract and Poster Program. More details can be found here.
  
• Together with Viorela Ila, who is currently at Georgia Tech, and Teresa Vidal-Calleja from the Australian Center for Field Robotics in Sydney, I co-organized the IROS workshop on probabilistic graphical models in robotics.
