The Best student ICRA 2018 paper

by Cornelia Della Casa

Students from the Autonomous Systems Laboratory led by Roland Siegwart, Professor at the Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Systems, were nominated for both the best conference paper and the best student paper finalists.

The best student paper award (external pagehttps://icra2018.org/award-winners/) went to Miguel Valls, Hubertus Hendrikx, Victor Reijgwart, Fabio Meier, Inkyu Sa, Renaud Dube, Abel Gawel, Mathias Burki, and Roland Siegwart on "Design of an Autonomous Racecar: Perception, State Estimation and System Integration". The contributions of the paper are presenting design and implementation of a fully autonomous racecar that uses fully onboard sensors to race on unknown race tracks at competitive speeds. The demonstration video can be found from external pagehttps://youtu.be/NpLNJ5kC_G0

This study was supported by three EU projects (TRADR, Flourish, and Up-Drive) and from the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research, and Innovation (SERI) as well.

To return our lessons and learn to the community, we have released dataset and source code (external pagehttps://github.com/AMZ-Driverless/fsd-resources#amz_driverless_2017) and the paper can be found from external pagehttps://arxiv.org/abs/1804.03252
